Compatibility with common materials and techniques

The formula of the Gaahleri Metallic Series adheres well to the most common substrates in slot and modelling:

• Injected plastic (ABS, polystyrene) prepared or painted with acrylic base.
• Resin parts with prior priming.
• Metal components of the chassis, provided the surface is clean and degreased.
• Surfaces painted with reference acrylics such as Vallejo, Tamiya, or Kaleido, once well cured.

It is recommended to apply a finishing varnish — matte, satin, or glossy depending on the desired effect — to protect the stroke on pieces that will undergo frequent handling.

Application tips

• Shake the marker before use and activate the valve by pressing the tip on a test surface until the ink flows regularly.
• Work in thin layers. A second pass, once the first is dry, intensifies the metallic coverage without creating accumulations.
• For very fine lines — window frames, wing edges — support your hand on a fixed point to maintain stroke stability.
• Store the markers horizontally to prevent the ink from shifting to one end.

Are these markers permanent once dry?

Yes, the ink is permanent in nature. However, on pieces exposed to handling or friction on track, it is advisable to protect the work with a layer of finishing varnish.

Do I need a base or primer before applying them?

On virgin plastic, a primer improves adhesion and prevents the ink from running. On surfaces already painted with acrylic and well cured, the markers can be applied directly. On resin, priming is always advisable.

Are they suitable for static models and dioramas, or just for slot?

Their use is completely valid for static models and dioramas. The range of metallic shades is designed for any miniature requiring convincing metal finishes, regardless of scale or discipline.

Can I mix the shades of the set to create intermediates?

Mixing directly within the markers is not intended. However, it is possible to combine shades by working with transparent layers or glazing techniques, using one as a base and another as a tint on top.

How long does the ink of each marker last?

The duration depends on the use and care of the marker. The valve technology helps preserve the ink between sessions, as the body remains sealed when not pressed. When stored correctly in a horizontal position, they maintain their performance for an extended period.

Are they compatible with airbrush or only for hand use?
