Impeccable preparation before picking up the airbrush or brush
Before painting a body, degreasing is the step that makes the difference between a paint layer that adheres perfectly and one that lifts after a few days. The Scaleauto SC-9503 transparent degreaser spray removes residues of grease, oils, mould release wax, and surface dirt that may go unnoticed but ruin any subsequent painting work.
Main features
- 400 ml spray format: convenient, with even application and good autonomy for multiple work sessions.
- Transparent finish: leaves no residue or tint on the piece, so it does not interfere with the base colour or light-tone primers.
- Suitable for plastic, fibreglass, and resin: covers the most common materials in slot car bodies, static models, and figures.
- Pre-paint preparation: improves the adhesion of primers, paints, and decals by cleaning the surface at a molecular level.
- Cleaning of finished bodies: also useful for removing fingerprints and accumulated dirt on already painted pieces, with the care typical of any solvent.
Applications
This degreaser is a common resource in three disciplines of the hobby:
- Slot: cleaning of plastic and resin bodies before customising with airbrush or spray paint; essential in any tuning or custom livery process.
- Static models: preparation of injected plastic, fibreglass, and resin parts before applying primer. Removes the mould oil that comes with the parts as standard.
- Figures and dioramas: degreasing of resin figures before applying colour layers with Vallejo, Kaleido, Tamiya, or Ammo.
Application tips
- Apply the spray about 20-25 cm away from the piece, with even movements.
- Allow to evaporate completely before handling the piece or applying the next layer. Rinsing with water is not necessary.
- Work in a ventilated space: like any solvent-based spray product, it generates vapours during application.
- Once the piece is degreased, handle it by the edges or with nitrile gloves to avoid leaving new grease fingerprints.
- Shake the can well before use and shake again if you have not applied it for a while.
Frequently asked questions
Can I use it on already painted bodies to clean them?
With caution, yes. As it is a solvent, it is advisable to do a small test in an inconspicuous area before applying it to delicate or very thin paint. On well-cured and hard acrylic paints, the risk is low, but it is always better to check first.
Is degreasing necessary before spray primers?
Yes. Primers adhere much better to a grease-free surface. Although the piece may appear clean at first glance, oils from the manufacturing process or handling fingerprints can compromise the long-term grip of the primer.
Does it also work on metal or aluminium?
Scaleauto indicates its use on plastic, fibreglass, and resin. For metal parts, there are specific degreasers; although in many cases this product may also work, we adhere to the uses declared by the manufacturer.
How many bodies can I prepare with a 400 ml can?
It depends on the size of the pieces and the amount applied, but a 400 ml can is sufficient to prepare a very high number of slot car bodies in 1/32 or 1/24 scale. For larger models, the consumption per piece is logically higher.
Do I need to wear gloves to apply it?
Yes, it is recommended. Nitrile gloves protect the skin from the solvent and also prevent you from contaminating the freshly degreased piece with the natural oil from your hands.
The Scaleauto SC-9503 transparent degreaser spray is a 400 ml pre-paint preparation product designed for plastic, fibreglass, and resin surfaces. Widely used in slot car body painting, static model kits, and resin figure preparation, it removes grease, mould release agents, and fingerprints before priming or applying colour coats, ensuring optimal paint adhesion and a clean finish.
