The BMW 635 CSi from Macau 1984, ready for you to bring it to life with your brush

The reference AV51799 from Avant Slot is the White Kit —unpainted body and parts— of the BMW 635 CSi that participated in the 1984 Macau Guia Race with the number 2. A blank canvas for modelling and customisation enthusiasts who want to reproduce the original livery with complete freedom or add their own personal touch.

Features and highlights

  • White Kit format: unpainted body and components, ready for preparation and decoration.
  • Based on the mould of the BMW 635 CSi from Avant Slot, reference 51703.
  • Reproduces the car of number 2 from the 1984 Macau Guia Race, driven by Dieter Quester.
  • Manufactured in resin by Avant Slot, with the level of detail and fidelity that characterises the brand.
  • Ideal for applying custom decals and advanced painting techniques.

Scale and level of detail

As is customary with Avant Slot kits, the body features a carefully defined shape and volume, aiming for the final result —once painted and decorated— to be as faithful as possible to the real prototype. The panels, air intakes, and details of the 635 CSi body are accurately represented in 1:32 scale.

Track behaviour

As this is a White Kit, the track behaviour will depend on the chassis and mechanical components you choose to mount. You can combine it with the chassis and mechanics of the finished version (reference 51703) or opt for a platform of your choice to adapt it to your circuit or competition level.

Ideal for…

  • Modelling enthusiasts who enjoy the preparation and painting phase as much as driving.
  • Collectors looking for a unique piece with a custom finish.
  • Club competitors wanting a visually differentiated car on track.
  • Lovers of Asian motorsport history and 80s touring car racing.

Points to consider

This product is an unpainted kit. It does not include paint, decals, or mechanics. To achieve the finish of the original livery of number 2 from Macau 1984, we recommend consulting photographic references from the event and working with paints from brands such as Vallejo, Tamiya, or Ammo, which offer excellent adhesion on resin and a wide colour palette suited for competition modelling.

History: Dieter Quester and the 1984 Macau Guia Race

The Guia Race is the oldest and most prestigious touring car event on the Macao Grand Prix calendar, held on the demanding Circuito da Guia, a 6.2 km street circuit that winds between concrete walls and houses on the Macau peninsula. In the 1980s, the BMW 635 CSi was the car to beat in long-distance touring car races in Europe and Asia, and Macau was no exception.

Dieter Quester, an Austrian driver born in 1939, was one of the great figures in European motorsport during the 70s and 80s. His association with BMW was long and fruitful: he participated in multiple editions of the 24 Hours of Spa, the European Touring Car Championship, and other major events across the continent behind the wheel of the Bavarian brand's models. In 1984, Quester took the BMW 635 CSi number 2 to the Macau circuit to compete in the Guia Race, an event that combined the technical brutality of the street circuit with the challenge of maintaining a production touring car at its limits throughout the race. His presence in Macau at that time is a testament to the international reach that touring car competition had achieved and the respect that Asian organisers had for top-level European drivers.

Recreating this car in White Kit format is, in a way, a tribute to a golden era of touring car motorsport: that of the BMW 635 CSi dominating circuits on five continents.

Frequently asked questions

Does the White Kit include mechanics, chassis, or electronics?

No. The Avant Slot White Kit includes only the body and unpainted plastic or resin parts. The mechanics, chassis, motor, guide, and braids must be purchased separately.

Is it compatible with the mechanics of the finished version AV51703?

Yes. As it is the same body mould, this White Kit is directly compatible with the chassis and mechanics of reference 51703 from Avant Slot.

What paints are recommended for this kit?

For working on resin, we recommend acrylic paints from brands such as Vallejo, Tamiya, or Ammo, always applying a primer coat beforehand to ensure adhesion and a uniform finish.

Are decals for the number 2 Macau livery included?

No, the White Kit does not include decals. To reproduce the original decoration of the BMW 635 CSi number 2 from Macau 1984, you will need to purchase or order the decals separately.

What level of experience is recommended for assembling and painting it?

An intermediate-advanced level in modelling is recommended, as the process of surface preparation, priming, and painting requires some practice to achieve a satisfactory result. That said, it is a very rewarding project even for those taking their first steps in customising slot car bodies.

Can I use it in club competition?

Yes, as long as you mount the appropriate mechanics and your club allows bodies of this category. Check your association's regulations before preparing it for competition.
