Its function is seemingly simple but absolutely critical: to serve as a support base for the motor axle during the pinion insertion process, ensuring that neither the axle nor the motor support suffers any damage.

Function and performance

When we insert a pinion onto a motor axle, the force exerted needs a precise, secure opposing support point. This M8 screw acts exactly as that support point. Its geometry is not coincidental: one of its faces features a special conical design that automatically guides the axle to the centre of the screw without the need for manual alignment. The result is that the axle is perfectly centred with respect to the other end, eliminating the risk of bending during the operation.

This is a direct evolution of the original screw that Sloting Plus conceived for its first pinion extractor/inserter, refined specifically to meet the demands of double shaft output motors —the most common in competition setups— as well as for motors with no shaft output at all.

Assembly and preparation

The installation could not be more straightforward: place the screw in the UPSILON press, position the motor, and forget about alignment. The conical face does the work by itself. It doesn't matter how you place it: the axle will seek the centre by itself, it will be aligned, and you can insert the pinion with complete confidence. A design detail that makes a difference when working in series or in workshop conditions during a full competition day.
