Can PS6 be used on styrene plastic or ABS bodies?

It is not its recommended use. The Tamiya PS range is formulated for flexible polycarbonate (Lexan). For rigid plastics like ABS or styrene, Tamiya offers the TS range in spray or the X and XF series in jars for brush and airbrush.

Is a base coat required before applying PS6?

It is not mandatory, but if you want a very opaque yellow and to prevent light from passing through the body on track, it is common to apply a final coat of white (PS1) or silver (PS12) once the colour is dry. White enhances the brightness of the yellow; silver, on the other hand, slightly dulls the tone.

How many coats do I need for an even coverage?

It depends on the paint scheme, but generally, two or three thin coats achieve solid coverage. Light colours like yellow usually require one more coat than dark ones.

Is it compatible with vinyl masks or Tamiya tape?

Yes. The PS series works well with modelling masking tape (such as Tamiya tape or similar). Ensure that the previous layer is completely dry before masking to avoid lifting the paint when removing.
