Why should I not use fabric softener when washing it?

How often should I wash it?

It depends on usage, but as a reference, wash it after every two or three drying sessions, or sooner if you notice it retaining visible dirt. A clean towel is also a towel that does not scratch.

Can I use it to apply or remove products like quick detailers or waxes?

This is not its primary use. For applying or removing finishing products, it is advisable to use specific towels with shorter pile and denser texture. This towel is optimised for drying after washing.
