Medium-high viscosity silicone (1500 CPS) designed to lubricate axles, gears, and moving parts in slot cars and models. A clean lubricant, free from aggressive residues, that protects and extends the life of the components.

Precise lubrication with the right viscosity for each critical point

The Silicone 1500CPS (reference MP010-1500) is a synthetic silicone-based lubricant with a viscosity of 1500 centipoise, a medium-high value that places it at the ideal point for applications where a more consistent protective film is needed than that provided by fine silicones, but with enough fluidity to reach well into axles and friction areas.

Silicone, as a lubricant, has a fundamental advantage over mineral or synthetic hydrocarbon-based oils: it is chemically inert to plastics, rubbers, and resins, meaning it does not attack or degrade the components of the car or the model. It does not leave long-term stickiness, does not accumulate dirt as easily, and withstands well the temperature changes generated in a running motor or during an extended racing session.

Main features

  • Viscosity: 1500 CPS (centipoise) — medium-high range, suitable for parts with greater clearance or that bear more load.
  • Base: synthetic silicone, inert to plastics and rubbers.
  • No aggressive residues: does not attack or dissolve materials commonly found in slot cars or static modelling.
  • Durable protection: forms a stable lubricating film that reduces wear from friction.
  • Controlled application: its medium consistency allows for precise dosing without the product migrating to unwanted areas.

Recommended applications

Thanks to its viscosity of 1500 CPS, this silicone is particularly suitable for:

  • Rear and front axles of slot cars: reduces friction at the axle supports on the chassis without the lubricant dispersing towards the braids or the guide.
  • Gears and crown gears when a more persistent lubrication than that offered by low-viscosity silicones is sought.
  • Open or semi-open bearings where a thicker film is desirable.
  • Moving parts in static models and dioramas: hinges, joints, and any point of movement that requires protection without the risk of damaging plastics or resins painted with brands like Vallejo, Tamiya, or Ammo.
  • Control mechanisms and electronics where lubrication is required without conductivity or interference.

Difference between viscosities: when to use 1500 CPS?

Silicone lubricants are marketed in different viscosity grades. A fine silicone (around 100-350 CPS) penetrates more easily into very narrow spaces, but moves out of the application area more easily. From 1000-1500 CPS, the silicone stays better at the application point, making it preferable for:

  • Parts with greater separation between surfaces.
  • Applications where the product must remain in place during long racing sessions.
  • Areas subjected to some pressure or radial load (axle supports, gears).

If your slot car has a very tight axle in the chassis or you use sealed ball bearings, a finer silicone will be sufficient. For open bearings, bronze supports, or crown gears with greater tooth separation, the viscosity of 1500 CPS offers better performance.

Application tips

  • Apply the minimum necessary amount: a small drop on each axle support is more than sufficient.
  • Spread with a fine brush or the tip of a toothpick if the container does not include a precision dispenser.
  • Remove excess with a lint-free cloth or a cotton swab.
  • Avoid contact with the braids and guide of the car: silicone can reduce electrical conductivity if it contaminates these areas.
  • On crown gears and pinions, apply with the assembly in motion (turning the axle by hand) to distribute the lubricant evenly.

Frequently asked questions

Can I use this silicone on the tyres of my slot car?

No, that is not its usual application. High-viscosity silicones on tyres can affect grip. There are specific products for treating tyres. Reserve the 1500 CPS for axles, bearings, and gears.

Is it compatible with ball bearings?

Yes, the silicone is inert and does not deteriorate the balls or the bearing cage. In sealed bearings, a small amount applied to the outside of the seal will suffice; in open bearings, you can apply it directly to the balls.

Does it damage plastics or resin parts?

No. One of the main advantages of silicone over other lubricants is precisely its compatibility with plastics, rubbers, and resins without causing swelling or material degradation.

How often should I re-lubricate?

It depends on usage. In a club racing slot car, checking and re-lubricating the axles every 3-4 racing sessions is good practice. In recreational use or in models, lubrication is much more spaced out over time.

Can I mix it with other silicones of different viscosities?

Technically it is possible, but it does not provide any real advantage. Each viscosity is designed for a specific application; it is most advisable to have two or three different viscosity ranges and apply each one in its corresponding area.

The Silicone 1500CPS (ref. MP010-1500) is a medium-high viscosity silicone lubricant designed for slot car axles, bearings, gears and moving parts in scale models and dioramas. Chemically inert against plastics, rubbers and resins, it provides a stable, long-lasting lubricating film without leaving aggressive residues.
